# VAT verification for organisation accounts

Organisation VAT numbers can now be verified against the EU VIES registry, at signup or on demand. Verification feeds trust tiers, so a verified organisation can qualify for a higher tier and the credit that comes with it. Nothing is blocked by being unverified.

## What changed

### Added
- At organisation signup the VAT number is checked against VIES immediately, and the same check can be re-run on demand from the organisation's verification settings.
- The VAT number stays optional. Skipping records a short reason on the account, and where the country is not covered the flow offers Skip rather than an error.
- Fuzzy name matching, so 'Ltd' against 'Limited' does not cause a false mismatch.

### Note
- Verification is point-in-time; there is no automatic re-check. VIES covers EU member states.

## Rollout

Available per provider on request. Existing accounts have already been checked, so some show a verified badge without any action.
